Tucked away in the lower Everest region of Solukhumbu, eastern Nepal, the Pikey Peak Trek offers a quieter, more authentic alternative to Nepal's busier trekking routes. Away from the crowds of the main Everest trail, this lesser-known journey winds through tranquil villages, terraced fields, and dense rhododendron forests, giving trekkers an immersive look at rural Himalayan life.

The trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhap village, where the trail starts. From there, the route follows a high ridge through Sherpa settlements, offering uninterrupted mountain views along the way. Along the trail, you'll pass through the heart of Sherpa Buddhist culture, with opportunities to visit monasteries such as Thupten Chholing and engage with resident monks — a meaningful cultural counterpoint to the trek's natural scenery.

At 4,065 meters (13,336 feet), Pikey Peak's summit is famed for its panoramic sunrise and sunset views over Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, and other Himalayan giants. The peak holds historical significance too — it was reportedly Sir Edmund Hillary's favorite spot to view Everest, adding a layer of legacy to an already spectacular vantage point.

Each night is spent in local teahouses, where trekkers share stories over traditional Nepali dal bhat, deepening the sense of connection to the region and its people. With its untouched trails and blend of scenic and cultural richness, Pikey Peak offers a genuinely unspoiled trekking experience.
