About · Hux Exped
There's more to life than sitting in front of a screen.
We figured that out somewhere between base camps — long enough on the sharp end of a rope to know that the best things happen when you stop overthinking and just go.
Founder & guideThe mission
A reason to go.
That's what Hux Exped is. A reason to go. Ten people, a serious mountain, and a guide who genuinely loves this stuff — not a packaged tour with a flag to follow.
We're a homegrown Nepali outfit, not an agency reselling someone else's trip. Every route we run is one we've walked ourselves, chosen for the places the crowds never reach and the villages that raised us. We keep groups small, pace them for safety, and handle every permit, flight and logistic so all you have to do is walk and look up.
And a share of every booking goes straight back — funding village schools and health posts in the valleys we trek. Trek far, give back. That's the whole idea.

What happens up there
What happens up there.
The mountains are logical. There are variables you can control and variables you can't. Our job is to manage both, and to watch what happens when people start figuring that out for themselves.
Something shifts up there. It's hard to explain until you've felt it, but your problems stop feeling as heavy, and you find out pretty quickly that you're capable of a lot more than you thought. The people you walk with become part of that. Most of them stay in touch long after the mountain.

Leave No TraceWhy HUX EXPED
Built for the ones who go further
We're a small outfit run by people who'd rather walk the hard route than the popular one. Here's what that means for you.
Genuinely offbeat
No Everest Base Camp queues. We run the restricted, hard-to-reach corners of Nepal — Kanchenjunga, Dolpo, Makalu, Nar Phu.
Small groups
Maximum ten trekkers per departure, walked at a human pace with room to actually meet the place.
Local expert guides
Licensed Nepali guides and porters with decades on the trail — your safety, the language and the lore, all covered.
6,000–7,000 m peaks
Ready for crampons? Trekking peaks and expedition objectives from Island Peak to Dhaulagiri.
Photography expeditions
Once a year a dedicated professional photo team joins a select trek to shoot the whole journey — a service you can book onto.
We give back
5% of every booking funds village schools and health posts in the Nepal valleys we trek. Built into the price, no fine print.
Our purpose
To protect Nepal's wild places, one trek at a time.

Trekkers
What the rope team says
“What a wonderful experience our group of four had trekking in Nepal with Deepak. From meeting Nepalese people along the way and learning to cook their food, to navigating the 1,000 steps to Namche Bazaar, he enriched every day with his knowledge and relationships. Everything was meticulously planned — guides, porters, tea houses, stays. He most impressed me when a medical emergency arose and he arranged the safe transport of our fellow traveller back to Kathmandu with the minimum of fuss. One of the best travel experiences I've had.”
“We have trekked the Everest and Annapurna regions, visited Chitwan and enjoyed Pokhara with Deepak and cannot recommend him more highly. He works tirelessly to ensure you are safe and that your trek is matched to your abilities, manages all the pre-bookings and permits, and his warm relationships with the villagers mean his guests are always looked after. He is medically trained and always has arrangements in place for the unexpected. If you're planning to visit Nepal, Deepak should be your go-to person.”
“HUX-PED doesn't just guide; they teach. I walked away from our 6,000 m peak with vastly improved rope work, crampon technique and alpine confidence.”
“What sets HUX-PED apart is that they don't just 'haul' you up a hill. Dom makes it a point to teach foundational alpine skills — crampon work, ice-axe arrest, crevasse rescue and anchor building. By the time we pushed for our 6,000 m objective, we felt like active partners on the rope rather than clients.”
“Leading a group across high passes at 5,300 m takes more than technical know-how; it takes a deep respect for the mountains and the local communities. HUX-PED's style blends professional capability with genuine, down-to-earth connection. It felt like an authentic old-school expedition, not a packaged tour.”
“High-altitude climbing is as much a mental game as a physical one. Dom's positive energy is infectious. He keeps team morale high, ensures everyone is looking out for one another, and turns a team into a tight-knit family.”
“HUX-PED delivers the exact opposite of a packaged tourist convoy. They curate expeditions to remote valleys and peaks that require real alpine grit but reward you with total isolation. An authentic, crowd-free mountaineering experience.”
“HUX-PED takes you where the crowds don't go. Their knowledge of the offbeat trails is incredible, and the logistics were seamless from start to finish.”
